Day 27: Exploring the Meaning of Success
I started arguing with my parents about the meaning of success as soon as I entered class 12th. They always wanted me to succeed in the traditional sense - a high-paying job, car, house, and other stuff. They wanted me to have the best life because they faced a lot of struggle. I have immense respect for that.
My definition of success was a bit different. I never got attracted to the idea of owning a big house or becoming the director of a company or buying the latest car. My idea of success was to have a meaningful life. I was always fascinated by the idea of having a life filled with adventures, good health, beautiful relationships, and peace of mind.
For some people, however, success is taking care of their financially struggling family. A high-paying job eliminates their worries. Some are successful when they find their spiritual path. Others find success when they have a loving partner.
The point is, you don’t have to accept someone else’s definition of success. If you feel successful taking care of your garden and living in your hometown, by all means, do it. Success has no single definition - it changes based on context and time. Whatever makes you feel content, purpose-driven, and happy is real success.
